Safe sleep for babies

With the news of the national recall of the popular Fisher Price Rock n Play sleeper (and similar inclined sleeping devices), now’s a good time to make sure that everyone is following the AAP’s safe sleep guidelines. Remember: always put babies down on a firm, flat surface, on the back, with no cushy toys or blankets. The best place for especially young babies to sleep is in their parent’s room, but on their own surface rather than sharing the bed. Avoid second hand smoke, and be sure to keep your babies up to date on their vaccines! Visit the AAP’s HealthyChildren site for more information about safe sleep and other children’s health topics.
