ACTION REQUIRED
Pediatric Physicians will no longer be a participating provider with WellCare care of Georgia effective May 1, 2021. This is not the result of any action of Pediatric Physicians. Instead, this change is the result of a merger of two Medicaid insurance carriers explained in the attached letter. More specifically, your child’s current insurance carrier, WellCare, is merging with Peach State Health Plan, and WellCare will cease to exist on May 1, 2021.
Pediatric Physicians is committed to being your children’s medical home and serving as their pediatrician. For that relationship to continue, during the month of March 2021, you will need to follow the steps outlined in the special Choice Change Period that WellCare members will be offered to select a health plan our practice participates in. You should receive those materials in the regular mail (United States Postal Service-USPS). To continue as a patient with our practice you will need to do all of the following:
(1) Actively choose to become a member of one of the following plan(s) with which we participate:
Participating Plans: CareSource of Georgia
(2) While completing the Choice Change process you will also need to select “Pediatric Physicians, PC” as your child’s primary care physician.
** Both of these steps are required in order for us to continue to care for your child**
If you do not wish to participate in CareSource of Georgia or do not take the steps above, your child will be insured by Peach State, and our practice will no longer be able to care for your child. This choice is completely yours to make. If you prefer to stay with our practice and you have completed both steps above, your child will become an active member of that new health plan effective May 1, 2021. We would be pleased to continue to take care of your child, and we hope to continue serving as the medical home and pediatrician over the months and years ahead. If you choose for your child to become a member of Peach State, we will help transfer your child’s medical records to a Peach State provider. Again, we will not be a Peach State provider.
It is important to note that if you do not actively take the steps outlined during the Choice Change Period outlined in the mailed instructions, your WellCare coverage will continue only through April 30, 2021. You will automatically become a Peach State Health Plan member on the very next day (May 1, 2021). Your child will no longer be able to be a covered member of our practice until the changes outlined above can be completed.
