Vaccine updates

Many communities in the United States and abroad are experiencing a resurgence of both pertussis and measles, in large part because some families are choosing not to vaccinate their children. Please, protect yourself, your kids, and your community by making sure that your entire family is fully vaccinated. We do offer vaccines for adults who are related to children in our practice, including the Tdap (adult tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis) vaccine that is recommended for ALL adults thru age 65 who have not yet received a dose of this immunization.

Recent vaccine recommendation changes:

  • Yearly influenza vaccine is now recommended for everyone aged 6 months and over.
  • A booster dose of meningitis vaccine is now recommended at age 16 (the first dose is given at age 11 or 12.)
  • MMR vaccine is recommended for all international travelers who have not already received 2 doses starting at 6 months (note the first dose is routinely given at 15 months.)
